Winter Birding at Turtle Beach in Sarasota FL

Wilson's Plover

I saw many Osprey on this trip.  This one posed nicely for me.

Snowy Egret--I was so pleased that it stood still to have its picture taken!

Sanderling
Got some good shots just walking around at the beach.

Florida Winter Birding at Celery Fields

Great Egret
Trip to South Florida was a tremendous success as I added about 20 species to my life list!  The birds were very cooperative and I snapped some good pictures.  Some remain possibly misidentified, but I'll leave that up to you good folks to set me straight!
These pictures were taken at Celery Fields, a place on the Florida Birding Trail. Sarasota Audubon was all about it.  Met a bunch of birders there and they helped us navigate around the park and told us what we were going to see around the bend.  Highly recommend if you are ever in the area!  You will see a lot of birds just standing around!

Limpkin--the place was loaded with these birds!

Yellowlegs

Juvenile White Ibis
There were many matures there, but I snapped a calendar worthy shot of one two years ago at Selby Gardens .

My mother was thrilled to see the Red Winged Blackbirds.
The female Red Winged Blackbirds were particularly beautiful.

Palm Warbler

A trio of Tricolored Herons

Mottled ducks

I asked this Fish Crow if he was an American Crow and he said, "Uh Uh"!

Pied Billed Grebe

Very excited to see this Wood Stork

I have seen many Little Blue Herons in the years I lived in Florida, but never so many juveniles and adults all together.
